PictureZoe and Patty
At tonight's meeting we had a session led by Patty Callaghan painting flowers with a palette knife.

Patty first demonstrated the techniques involved before letting us loose.

Patty also introduced her programme of outdoor sketching sessions listed below:
Outdoor Sketching Programme 2015
Tuesday 9 June, 1 – 3 pm Clarence Mill and canal, Bollington
Meet at Clarence Mill (SK10 5GR) at 12.45.  There is limited parking in front of the mill and a large car park behind.  There is a café and toilets inside the mill.

Tuesday 16 June, 1.30 – 3.30 pm Castlefield, Manchester
Meet at Macc Train Station for 12.41 train or make your own way to meet outside Science and Industry Museum (M3 4FP) at 1.30 pm.  If wet, we can draw inside the museum (free admission!)  (And café!)

Thursday 25 June, 2 - 4 pm The Dome, Buxton
Meet at the Dome (SK17 6RY).  It’s about a 10 minute walk from the bus station.  There doesn’t appear to be parking available on-site.  The café at the Dome is open until 3.30 but there are plenty of other cafes in Buxton itself (inc. the Pavilion Gardens where you can buy marvellous papier mache animals!!)

Thursday 2 July, 10.30 am – 12.30 pm Prestbury Village
Meet outside St Peter’s church (SK10 4DG), 10.15 am.  Parking is available on Shirley’s Drive (SK10 4XQ).  There are public toilets a few minutes’ walk from the church.

Thursday 16 July, 10.30 am – 12.30 pm Nether Alderley Mill and village
Parking at the mill or Nether Alderley village is limited so car sharing is probably advisable.  The 130 bus stops opposite the mill and runs every half hour from Churchill Way/King Edward St in Macc.  The mill is open in the afternoon, 1 till 4 pm but I think we are more likely to draw exteriors.
You will need: Sketchbook/s – hardback is most durable, A4 or A5; your preferred materials – pencils or pens; coloured media – watercolour or pastel pencils are convenient; tissues for blotting ‘mistakes’; viewfinder.
You may also want to bring – camera, folding stool or chair to sit on, money for café, waterproofs or sunblock/sunglasses depending on your pessimism/optimism ratio.
On the day – if weather looks iffy or you are in any doubt about whether we go ahead please call Patty on 07791 504971, at least 2 hours before the scheduled meeting time.  If a session doesn’t run, the next session will be as on the schedule above – we will not re-arrange.
Cost is £5 per person, payable on the day.  Just turn up for as many or as few as you wish.
